Driving a car is a luxury that most of us take for granted. Automobiles are the primary means of transport in the U.S., with ninety percent of American adults owning or previously owning a car or truck. What we do know is that operating a car or truck is one responsibility that can bring serious consequences. Each year in the U.S. alone, more than ten thousand vehicular accidents. An average of four hundred Americans die every year as a result of automotive accidents. It is a tragic figure, especially when one considers that many of these accidents could be avoided with proper maintenance and routine check-ups. Keep your car well-maintained means reducing the risk of accidents or even death, and protect your loved ones and fellow drivers.

Before proposing the way, so be sure to keep these checkups regularly:

Tires Most Americans use all-season tires. These tires should carry you safely from season to season, but it is imperative that you check the tires regularly for wear or damage. Ideally, tires should be checked on a weekly basis.

Brakes The braking system serves one main purpose: to slow or stop the car when necessary. If you step on the brake pedal and it goes all the way to the floor, you have problems. Late-model cars are equipped with a brake warning light. The dashboard lights up if there is something wrong with your braking system. If your brake warning light indicates problems, it is imperative that you check the brake system immediately. Consult owner’s manual for maintenance advice, and calling an experienced mechanic for repairs. Brake repairs or replacements are no job for a weekend or hobby mechanic.

Headlamps
In 2005 died over 2,300 pedestrians because drivers suffered eye problems or had faulty lights in cars. Properly maintained vehicle headlights help you drive safely and see more clearly. Replace your headlight bulbs at least once a year.

wipers
Many people do not think that changing their wiper blades until it is too late. This is one of the easiest and least expensive parts of the car to maintain. Change your wiper blades twice a year, in spring and just before winter.

There are 10 common reasons for car owners visit the mechanic:

first Electronic / Ignition control
second Suspension / steering
third Electrical problem
4th Braking
5th Oil change / filter / lube
6th Exhaust System
7th Radiator repairs
8th Fuel system / carburetor
9th Clutch / Transmission
10th The air conditioner

Routine check ups and proper maintenance of a car will be expensive, and budgetary constraints are often the leading factors in keeping car owners from living up to their responsibilities. This need not be a problem. The key is knowing how to save on car maintenance and repairs. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) confirmed that billions are wasted on unnecessary auto repairs as a result of fraud and incompetence.

If your car is not performing to its full potential, remember the following tips to help you save money on repairs:

Preventive Maintenance
Join your car’s best friend, and you can save a bundle. By carrying out regular preventive maintenance such as regular oil changes and radiator flushes, prevent you from unnecessary damage to the car and save a lot of money in the long run. Regular inspection by a qualified repairperson will keep your car running better, longer.

Conserve
Even cars have to take a break now and then. If you drive your car everyday the miles will add up quickly, and damage may occur early. To avoid this, please consider carpooling with friends and colleagues. Ask around to form your own Carpool group. You all save on maintenance and you will be able to pool your fuel and parking expenses.

Estimates
Before choosing a mechanic to repair your car, be sure to get a written appraisal. If the mechanic wants more than your budget can afford, shop around. Compare estimates to find the best deals. Just be sure you are paying for quality service.

DIY
You will be surprised how much you can do after doing a little research. Read over your owner’s manual from time to time. Learn as much as you can about your car. Understand potential problems and how to solve them. For example. The mysterious clunking noise might be annoying but could be something as simple to fix as tightening a bolt Regular maintenance tasks like oil changes and radiator flushes are fairly easy to do if you understand your vehicle and take the time to do the job properly.

As a car owner, you have a responsibility to keep your car properly maintained at all times. Consider it an investment in your car’s future, and remember that it could save a life.

List Price: $ 39.95 Price: $ 26.37 Etiquette For Auto Maintenance

Car Maintenance is something we all have to deal with at some point in our lives. But what most people do not realize that there are certain etiquette that goes along with owning a car. When you are the owner of the vehicle, you must be aware of other people around you. For example, if your oil needs change, you change your oil in your driveway, where all the neighbors can see? How would you feel if you came home the next day and then all your neighbors changing oil in their cars in their driveways?

If you absolutely must change the oil in your car, so try to do it at a time when there are not as many people as the early morning or later at night. Something like this really should not be a problem, because changing the oil in your car is not something that is noisy. The only thing you should be aware of is that you are so cautious that you can be while actually changing your oil because it can spill and stain the road.

Another thing that people should be aware of is that there is a time and place to take care of your car maintenance. Once there was a man who moved into my parents’ neighborhood and actually opened his own garage mechanic out of his home. The way in which we found out was when we began to hear him work on his cars at night. It was only a matter of time before we were able to see him actually working on his vehicles out of his garage. Inside his garage, he had actually built a lift to put the cars out so he could work on them. What he does not seem to factor in, however, was that there were other people who live in the neighborhood with him. What would happen if everyone in the neighborhood started their own auto mechanic’s business out of their garage? I think you will find that the neighborhood would start heading downhill soon.

Before you start thinking about working on your car or other vehicle to consider other variables, such as cleaning and appeal your neighborhood. Are you also consider the rules for area you live in. For example did you know that there are rules for certain neighborhoods that dictate what types of vehicles that you can keep out of your estate when you can water your lawn as well whether you can own a motorcycle or other high vehicle? Most districts do not allow you to keep the boats on your property, while others will allow you to have a boat, so long as it is in the backyard and deck.

Check and see what the rules are for the area you live in. If you are unsure, ask a neighbor or ask your city council or other senior official. Maintaining your car is something you should do, but it should not happen on your property.

List Price: $ 99.99 Price: $ 61.48 Two common fallacies About Car Maintenance

Millions of people are fooled into believing the myths that savvy marketing and less than scrupulous mechanics. For instance, the idea that your car must have regular oil changes every 3,000 miles an absolute lie. Similarly, your technician councils have your radiator flushed once a year more for his bottom line than to keep your cooling system. Despite this, spend a lot of motorists unnecessary time and money for such advice.

In this short article I will describe two common fallacies about car maintenance. These myths are perpetuated not just by your local mechanic, but your dealership service technicians. Teach them and save your money. You’ll be glad you did.

# 1 – Frequencies Tune-Ups

Unless you drive a vehicle that was built when disco was still angry, your car’s engine probably does not need a tune-up . The service was conducted in order to adjust the engine and moving parts in a time when carburetors were installed in every model. Today, the only car parts that need “tuning up” the spark plugs. And those who just need to be replaced every 50,000 miles. Everything else – the ignition, fuel injection, and idling of the engine – are controlled by computers.

Unfortunately, negotiators continue to tell their customers that they must bring their vehicles in a tune-up after 60,000 miles. It is not surprising. After all, it increases their earnings.

# 2 – New Air Filters

Think back to the last time you took your vehicle in for an oil change. Have a mechanic propose a new air filter? Has he subtly imply that your car might sustain damage if you fail to replace it? This is a common misconception. First air filter catches debris before it can enter the engine. Over time, can filter accumulate so much dust and dirt that little air can flow through. At this point, it is a good idea to replace it. But it takes time for air filter to reach that stage.

Of course that does not stop auto technicians from recommending replacement each time you visit. From their perspective, you will come to their shop ready to use on an oil change and end up using. What’s not to like?

Auto Maintenance Education savings

Your vehicle requires regular preventive maintenance. That is what helps to ensure that it will last. But it’s too easy to waste valuable time and money after bad advice from mechanics and dealership technicians. Remember, their goal is to increase their sales, and many of them are willing to do it at your expense.

Chances are, you see the car did not need regular tune-ups. Nor did you have to replace the air filter as often as your mechanic can decipher. As always, follow your owners manual. This is the best way to keep your car in good condition. If you find a mechanic you trust and faith treat you fairly, so he will be your mechanic to life in the car and all other vehicles you own.
